Background
The annual (and very voluntary) performance test of Testify’s employees – also known as the Holmenkollen Relay – took place on Saturday, May 10.
(Fortunately, the actual race went considerably faster than the publication of this blog post.)
Setup
- 15 legs through the streets of Oslo (see details at holmenkollstafetten.no)
- 1 relay baton
- Beautiful weather
- Fantastic and homely party venue with perfect location (huge thanks to Dag and Ida)
Execution
Start time was 15:50 in the category “A1 – Company teams, recreational teams, other teams.”
14 runners wearing the Testify jersey (one ran two legs) completed the 15 planned stages according to the organizer’s specifications. Each runner adjusted their pace according to their body, ambition level, and conscience.
The execution proceeded without major mistakes or scandals, with the caveat that a high level of self-reporting may have resulted in some errors being conveniently hidden.
After completion, a thorough debrief was conducted with an exchange of experiences and information in the form of praise and tall tales, together with the intake of well-earned nourishment. Medals were also awarded to those present, made from the finest affordable chocolate.
Conclusion
The test was successfully completed. The key requirements of teamwork and engagement (both on the course, on Slack, and at the party afterward) were met by a solid margin.
Total finishing time improved by just over 7 minutes compared to last year’s relay. A detailed log of leg times can be found at holmenkollstafetten.no/resultater, but this is (for most) secondary in the big picture.
Further follow-up
Retest planned for early May 2026. Everyone is excited!
