Syver is one of our trainees in Testify. He is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree at the University of Oslo’s Department of Informatics. This autumn he started his second year of the degree and is really enjoying the study programme.
Syver is simultaneously an athlete competing in kayaking at a professional level. The main goal for 2023 was the World championships in marathon kayaking, hosted in Jels, Denmark. He made it to the Norwegian team and finished in 11th place in the U23 men’s race, as one of the youngest competitors.
He also competed in the K2 race, together with teammate Ivar, but found the men’s senior race a bit tougher and finished in 14th place.
As a great bonus he was selected quite surprisingly to compete in the European U23 Championships in Portugal, representing Norway in K2 1000m. As Syver is mainly focussing on marathon and not sprint kayaking, he saw this as a great opportunity to compete against the best kayakers in Europe and learn from the race experiences.
Syver competed, additionally, in both Nordic championships and the Norwegian championships this year. He is five times Norwegian champion for 2023!
